When it comes to traditional Irish music, language and culture, there are few pubs that compare. Under the stewardship of publican Fergus Ó Flaithbheartaigh, the strains of the session continuously colour the night air. Visiting musicians are welcome.

Welcome
Fergus's mother Molly and father Patrick — known as Paguine — established it after Patrick, a fisherman, broke his leg and had to give up fishing. The building itself goes back further: the original Valentia Island flagstones date from the 1860s, and the two mainstays in the bar were rendered from a ship lost at sea.
In the 1960s Patrick set up a music shop inside the pub, and the family grew up around instruments — Fergus remembers his father making bodhráns and selling accordions. Fergus, his twin brother Carl and his sister Mazz are accomplished musicians between them: banjo, guitar, tin whistle, bodhrán and more.
